The Vets Brigade Grow Program was developed to get vets back to work but at the same time offer them new skills in agriculture, plant physiology, supply management and best business practices. As a result, the following Grow Program has been put in place to reinforce our mission and vision statements.
Phase 1
Assisting veterans to obtain personal grow licenses. The personal grow licenses will serve as a vocational and training platform to teach veterans the fundamentals of growing medicinal cannabis and hemp. An A-Z approach developed by Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame inductee Dr. Mohyuddin Mirza; Dr. Mirza’s approach to growing is based on fundamentals ranging from plant physiology, disease control, nutrient management and optimal cultivation techniques. He will give veterans a hands-on opportunity to understand how plants are grown and how certain strains can assist in veterans’ rehab and re-integration protocols.

1) Alvera’s business model will also focus on business fundamentals to train veterans in operating their own start-up businesses. Throughout various strategic regions of Canada Veterans will be given the opportunity to grow within modular grow units, warehouses and greenhouses. Alvera will cover reasonable start-up costs and veterans will be retained as employees while they learn to grow.
2) Veterans will be trained in growing, cultivation, production and business management. The next stage of Alvera’s business model calls for Veteran growers to work with Alvera’s scientific and military advisers to develop research and treatment protocols to assist with military and veteran treatment protocols. Teaching veterans a full spectrum approach to Cannabis and hemp CBD products will allow veterans to have input in current and future policy and treatment strategies.
Utilizing medical cannabis as a treatment protocol for returning vets. CNV is developing intake questionnaires to help identify returning service members and already released vets who may benefit from cannabis treatment protocols. Currently, CNV works with a network of Health Canada approved clinics and physicians that will assist veterans to develop medical cannabis-based treatment protocols.
